1. Configuring OziExplorer to work with your GPS

NOTE : OziExplorer Version 3.95.5k and later versions -  A Find GPS Port button has been added to the GPS tab in OziExplorer configuration. The ports on the PC will be scanned and the information about the GPS found will be displayed so the information can be manually entered into OziExplorer configuration.

2. Using a Windows Internal GPS with OziExplorer

Windows Internal GPS (including the Windows 8 internal GPS in tablets and laptops)

3. Using a Garmin USB GPS with OziExplorer

(This is a Garmin GPS with a USB data transfer interface not a Garmin connected to USB via a Serial to USB adapter.)

OziExplorer Version 3.95.4 or later is required, earlier versions of OziExplorer do not support this interface.

On the COM Tab - you must tick the checkbox "Garmin USB".

4. My Garmin GPS is not listed in "GPS Model" in OziExplorer Configuration, can I use it with OziExplorer

Yes, select "Other Garmin" from the list. You may need to alter the fields in "GPS Parameters" to suit your GPS.  Refer to your GPS manual for this information.

5. I have a USB mouse type GPS, does OziExplorer support it.

Yes, the GPS will come with a driver which will add a virtual serial port to your PC.  The driver must be installed.

6. Can I use a bluetooth GPS with OziExplorer on my PC which has bluetooth

Yes, use these OziExplorer Configuration settings :

7. My PC only has USB ports (does not have a serial port), how do I connect my serial GPS

You need to purchase a USB to Serial Port adapter. These come with a driver which will add a virtual serial port to your PC.

You need to note the port number which is configured by the adapter. (if you do not know, check the port number in Windows Settings / Control Panel / System / Hardware / Device Manager)

8. I have a PCMCIA enabled laptop computer and a Compact Flash GPS, does OziExplorer support this configuration

Yes, the driver supplied with the device will add a virtual serial port to your PC.

You need to note the port number which is configured by the driver. (if you do not know, check the port number in Windows Settings / Control Panel / System / Hardware / Device Manager)
